Integrated Rehabilitation Centre for Addicts
Considering the consequences of drug abuse and its impact on the society, HOLY HOME decided to work for the prevention of the drug abuse in the society especially tribal dominated remote areas of Nuapada district and set-up an Integrated Rehabilitation Centre for Addicts (Jeevan Dhara) to address de-addiction in the area and to rehabilitate them in their respective families. The centre is commonly known as IRCA (Integrated Rehabilitation Centre for Addicts), popularly known as, Drug De-addiction Centre. This program is supported by the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Govt. of India since the year 2010-11.
The centre is treating the alcoholic as well as substance drug addicts. The composite centre is a 15-Beded Hospital having the facilities of outdoor and indoor treatment. The medication includes yoga therapy, ayurved system of medicines with enriching the full body and mind treatment for early recovery of addicts. There are also providing Individual Counselling of the addict as well as their family members, peer groups and co-worker of the work place.
The program also includes mass awareness at community places, market gatherings and other occasional gatherings to ensure a drug free life for their better health and healthy social family bonding. In the treatment process apart from the medicine the physical activities such as yoga and exercises are practised regularly for their physical activeness. For their pleasant stay nutritional & hygienic food including snacks & tea is provided regularly as per the schedule. For their recreation, viewing of de-addiction news in audio-visual system, television program and indoor games were provided. Magazine and Newspapers are also provided for the literate addicts.
In Jeevan Dhara-IRCA patients are given important knowledge in life skills and they are also made aware of their strength through empowerment sessions. Skilled counsellor helps patients to develop their personalities in order to fight addictive habits. IRCA is also preparing them to be vocal, at their local level, to propagate against the drug addiction and to create awareness to join the IRCA who are under influence of regular addiction.
